Farmhouse Weddings? They can be queer and in Berlin!

Farmhaus wedding aesthetics has reached Berlin and the queer community is leveling it up aka making it not cringe. Think dinner outside on long wooden tables, field flowers, casual soft outfits (cute puppies running around and taking your shoes off by sunset: optional).

Lately we've had a few couples ask us to make cakes for weddings with exactly this kind of vibe, so we thought we'd collect some of our favourite ideas in one place.

One of our favourite things about making cakes for queer weddings is that people are much less interested in what a wedding is "supposed" to look like.

We've made heart-shaped wedding cakes. Tiny cakes for twenty people. Big cakes with vintage piping. Cakes covered in fresh flowers. Cakes inspired by Pinterest boards called things like "forest fairy but gayer."

What we'd put on the table

If we were planning the dream farmhouse wedding, there would obviously be cake.

But also...Fresh focaccia for cocktail hour, mini cupcakes with the same colour palette, and maybeee cinnamon buns for breakfast anyone?

The colours we're seeing everywhere

Butter yellow, Sage green, Dusty blue, Soft pink, Deep cherry red, Chocolate brown, and lots of cream.

And the cake?

We're currently obsessed with:

vintage piping
naked cakes with fresh fruit
So many flowers
ribbon bows
textured buttercream
chocolate ganache

Farmhouse wedding cakes aren’t too polished, they feel handmade but definitely don’t look like they are, they are romantic and you just can’t wait to try them. The most important part is that wedding doesn't have to look a certain way, it can be twenty people in a garden or 200 in a barn, you can go traditional or having mismatched dresses, no speeches, kids, disco balls or none of the above.
